You can delete your Sidestory account and all associated data at any time — directly from the app, in a few taps. This page walks you through how, what gets removed, and how long it takes.
01Delete from the app
The fastest way is right inside Sidestory:
-
Open the app and go to your profile
Tap the
Accounttab in the bottom navigation. -
Open Account settings
Scroll to the bottom of the Account screen and tap
Account. - Tap "Delete Account" Confirm when prompted. Your account and all data described below will be permanently removed.
02What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we remove the following from our backend:
- Your authentication record (Google / Apple / email sign-in)
- Your account profile and preferences
- All sidestories, journal entries, and memories you created
- Photos and media uploaded to your account
- Quest progress and history
Locally cached data on your device is cleared when you sign out or uninstall the app. Uninstalling alone does not delete data stored on our backend — use the in-app delete flow or submit an email request.
03How long it takes
Account and profile data is removed from our active systems immediately on confirmation. Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax or fraud-prevention records). This timeline matches the GDPR commitment in our Privacy Policy.
04Can't access the app?
If you lost access to your account or can't open the app, you can request deletion by email. Send a message from the email address tied to your account and we'll process the request within 30 days.
