These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the mobile application Sidestep ("the app"), provided by Michael Zauner ("we", "our", or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these Terms.

Sidestep is a mobile application that provides users with curated micro-adventure activities ("sidequests") to encourage exploration and new experiences. The app allows users to:
- Browse and discover sidequests across multiple categories
- Track active and completed quests
- Record journal entries, moods, and memories
- Customize their experience through preferences and interests
03Eligibility
To use Sidestep, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- Use the app in compliance with these Terms and applicable law
If you are under 16, you may not use the app.
04Account Registration
The app requires you to create an account using Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately at sidestep@mzappworks.dev if you suspect unauthorized access
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
05Free Use and Future Premium Features
The app is currently available free of charge. We may introduce optional premium features in the future. Any paid features will be clearly marked, and you will be informed of associated costs before purchase. Existing free features will not be removed without prior notice.
06User-Generated Content
When you create journal entries, mood ratings, or attach photos within the app, you retain ownership of that content. By using the app, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and display your content solely for the purpose of operating the service.
You agree not to submit content that:
- Is unlawful, offensive, or harmful
- Violates the rights of third parties
- Contains malware or harmful code
07Intellectual Property
All content, designs, logos, quest content, and software included in or made available through Sidestep are the property of Michael Zauner and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the app without our prior written consent.
08Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the app
- Interfere with or disrupt the app's infrastructure or security
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract content from the app
09Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:
- The app will be available at all times or free from errors
- The sidequests are suitable for your specific circumstances or physical condition
Sidequests are suggestions for leisure activities. You participate in any activity at your own risk and are responsible for assessing whether an activity is appropriate and safe for you.
10Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Michael Zauner shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or loss of data.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11Availability and Changes
We reserve the right to:
- Modify, update, or discontinue features of the app at any time
- Update these Terms with reasonable notice
Continued use of the app after changes to the Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will communicate significant changes via the app or by email where possible.
12Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, the rights granted to you under these Terms will cease.
13Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Austria, excluding its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Austria, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
